Home, ideas and work across the top. Click one and the list narrows to it, and a note can carry several.

Pinned stops it sinking
The note you keep coming back to takes a pin and holds the top while everything else sorts by recency.

The first line does the work
Each note shows enough of itself to be recognised without opening, plus when you last touched it. Twenty eight minutes ago is usually all the identification you need.

Type # to link something
Mention a trip, a recipe or a project by typing a hash and its name. The link stays live and opens the thing it points at.

Can I switch Notes off?
No, and on purpose. Notes is one of the four modules with no switch, along with Planner, Shared, Habits, and it stays in the sidebar whatever else you turn off.
Does Notes sync between the Mac and the iPhone?
Yes, once iCloud sync is unlocked for $14.99, paid once and covering the Mac and the iPhone together. Until then Notes keeps its data on the device you typed it into, and it goes nowhere else.
